Always check your truck, SUV, or van to see which stock pan you have and look for clearance with exhaust, drive shaft and frame cross members.

Newer vehicles: exhaust or frame cross members run under the pan and our part number 9427 is designed with a step for clearance on those vehicles.

Drive Shaft: Some of these vehicles may have the drive shaft too close to the stock pan to allow for thicker walls of the PML pan. Check the location of your drive shaft before ordering. This shows the drive shaft on a 1986 K10 4x4 with a 700 R4:

Bell Housing: Some of these vehicles have the bell housing close to the transmission pan and material must be removed from the leading edge of the PML pan so it fits and the bolt holes line up. This picture is from a 1994 Suburban Installation.

The filter supports are the three cylinders in the middle of the pan on the inside. These filter supports are designed for the 700R4 and shallow 4L60E filters.

The drain is on the driver's side. A magnetic drain plug is included with the pan.

Optionally, this pan can be machined for a temperature sending unit.

If you would like PML to drill and tap hole, the machining charge is  per hole. A plug for the hole is included.

There are bosses on the passenger side and the driver side that can be machined. The standard size is 1/8 NPT. Call or email if you need a different size.

Gasket

PML recommends a cork or cork composite gasket for use with our GM 700R4, 4L60 transmission pans. Any brand of cork/cork composite gasket is good as long as it is about 0.100 inch thick.

Here is an example of one from Mahle, available at RockAuto.com. The Mahle part number is W39365.

Shift Cable Mounting Bracket

You may have to modify the cable mounting bracket to use this pan. Some brackets and cabling do not work at all with this pan. The flange and walls on the PML pan are thick so modification may be needed. Check carefully before ordering.

This article from Vette magazine show an example of a modification for a 700 R4 shift cable bracket.
